This new pH regulation concept allows you to adjust the pH value, especially for fast-growing plants.
As growers, we always have a list of wishes that would make our lives easier if they were fulfilled. At the top of the list is a pH buffer that would work so well that we could go on vacation for two weeks and when we returned, the pH of the nutrient solution would still be the same. The problem with this is that this is only possible when the nutrition is weak, there is hardly any activity in the solution and your plants are growing at an average pace.
If the growth is to be fast and a large amount of ions are to be removed, as well as complex interactions in the solution, such stability is unthinkable. However, today we are not helpless. Today we can achieve satisfactory stability as well as other advantages.
A solution with good pH regulation is one where you only adjust the pH once, when you start the system. We do not claim that we have achieved exactly that, and not in every situation and with every nutrient solution. But as far as pH regulation goes, we have tried pH Down preparations in our greenhouses in combination with the Flora series and Mineral Magic, plant growth went on for several weeks without the need for pH adjustment. In some smaller systems, the pH drops slightly, but after adding a small amount of pH Up, it rises back to the desired level. In other cases, the pH stays very close to the almost ideal value of 6.0.
The ideal pH is actually the most important thing. A high pH promotes the uptake of cations and a low pH promotes the uptake of anions. There are compromises to be made when choosing the pH. Usually a safe value in the range of 5.5 to 6.5 is recommended. We recommend sticking to the lower value, so between 5.5 and 6.2.
pH-Down - Organically buffered pH buffer
Unlike the common pH regulators on the market, pH-Down is not an ordinary acid. It is a precise blend of elements that regulates pH, provides nutrients and buffers the nutrient solution. Along with a balanced blend of acids, we have added buffers that stabilize pH and help control calcium levels in hard water.
pH-Up contains silicate
As for increasing the pH in the solution, this will be especially useful for growers who use osmosis or demineralized water. This new version contains silicate, which improves the plant environment.
A lack of silicate can be a limiting factor in hydroponics because it is poorly soluble and therefore difficult to get into solution, so we add it to our products whenever possible.
Dry pH Down - Pure, concentrated and non-toxic pH regulating crystal
pH regulation is a necessary practice for plant growers. It allows for mineral availability and chelate stability, which are two primary conditions for the plant to absorb nutrients well. There are many different brands of acids on the market, some of which are very concentrated and quite dangerous depending on their composition. In some countries, such as Switzerland, there are legal restrictions on the handling and sale of these products, so selling them requires strict requirements from the store owner. In addition, for stores that order products by mail and then also send liquid acids by mail, this is a dangerous and high-risk shipment, sometimes subject to various postal service restrictions.
To find a solution to both problems, our scientific staff looked for a product that would be as effective as our traditional liquid pH-Down, but at the same time eliminate the risk referred to in the relevant legislation.
Today, at GHE, we are very pleased to offer you a dry preparation called "Dry pH Down", a new concept in pH regulation and at the same time a unique product manufactured by us.
Dry pH Down is a pretty interesting product: when it stays dry, it is non-toxic and harmless and easy to handle, but once mixed with water, it becomes a very effective pH lowering regulator.
It also provides the plant with a certain amount of necessary nutrients throughout its life cycle:
Nitr
ates that are slowly assimilated by the plant and therefore are not harmful during the flowering process.
Phosphates for flowering, but also for healthy roots, rich foliage and harmonious growth.
It also contains magnesium, sulfur and micronutrients.
Dry pH Down is a very pure product. It comes in the form of crystals that dissolve perfectly in water and leave no residue. It is economical and can be used for all phases of the plant's growth, just like our liquid pH Up and pH Down preparations.
The first application of this product naturally comes with the need for pH regulation.
Due to its strong concentration and high content of phosphoric acid, it can also be used to disinfect and clean cultivation systems, irrigation networks and substrates. In homeopathic doses, it can be used as a foliar spray after treatment with insecticides. The leaves are thus cleaned and the plant receives nutrients.
